Category 5 Homes

Homes engineered to stand up to hurricane-force wind, built for coastal and storm-exposed sites in North Carolina.

Elevated coastal-style home built to withstand hurricane-force winds

North Carolina gets hurricanes. A Category 5 home is built from the foundation up to survive one rather than to be repaired after it.

What the work covers

The difference is structural and it is decided early. Connection details, fastening schedules, roof geometry, glazing and the way the structure transfers wind load to the foundation all change.

We build these to the engineering, not to the minimum, and we walk you through what each decision buys you in terms of resilience before you commit to it.

If you are weighing a Category 5 build against a conventional one, we will give you an honest comparison of cost and benefit for your specific site.

1

Engineered for wind load

Connections, fastening and roof geometry are specified for hurricane-force conditions.

2

Decided at the foundation

Storm resilience is structural, so the important choices are made before framing starts.

3

Built to the engineering

We build to the specification rather than to the code minimum.

4

An honest comparison

We will show you what the upgrade costs and what it buys for your specific site.

How we work for you

We keep the process simple, transparent and predictable, from the first consultation to the final walkthrough.

STEP 01

Initial Consultation

We meet at the property, look at the space, and work out what the project actually is.

STEP 02

Your Plan

We put together a plan built around what you want, what you need, and what the budget allows

STEP 03

Design & Build

We handle the design and the construction, coordinating every trade under one schedule

STEP 04

Finish & Handover

Installations, the paint job at the end, and a final walkthrough before we hand the space back

Questions, answered

The things homeowners and business owners ask us most before a project starts.

We work throughout the Triangle. That covers Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Fuquay-Varina, Knightdale, Garner, Clayton and Zebulon, along with the surrounding area. If you are not sure whether your address falls inside that, call and ask.

Yes. Seven Generations Build Group is a licensed firm with the North Carolina Board of General Contractors, and we are members of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh & Wake County. Being licensed also means we pull the permits and meet the inspectors on your project rather than leaving that to you.

No. Estimates are free and there is no obligation to proceed. We would rather spend an hour telling you a project is not worth doing than take it on knowing it will disappoint you.

Residential remodeling and renovation, kitchens, bathrooms, home additions, decks, screened porches and three season rooms, custom homes, Category 5 homes and barndominiums. On the commercial side we handle upfits, tenant improvements, office expansions, restoration, painting and custom carpentry.

We do. A typical project runs from an initial consultation, through a plan built around your wants, needs and budget, into design and construction, the installations, and the paint job once the building work is finished. One firm carries it the whole way.

Call 919-889-2154 or send us a message through the site with a short description of what you are planning. We will arrange a time to look at the space and go from there. We answer the phone Monday to Friday from 9am, Saturdays from 10am and Sundays from noon.
